The Colorado Impact Initiative was created to elevate and accelerate impact investing in Colorado by facilitating education, networking, collaboration, and partnerships among investors, entrepreneurs, and practitioners.

Colorado Impact Day Steering Committee Job Description

The success of Colorado Impact Day depends on a diverse group of passionate community leaders who are dedicated to the planning and implementation of the event. The Steering Committee will meet on a monthly basis to participate in shaping Colorado Impact Day, including by not limited to identifying, cultivating, and soliciting prospective sponsors and competition participants. The Steering Committee will be led by the Steering Committee Chairperson, in conjunction with IFC staff. IFC staff will also coordinate event logistics and collateral materials, and keep the Steering Committee continuously up to speed on event progress. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

Steering Committee Members will: 

  • Be an ambassador for Colorado Impact Day and be able to talk eloquently about the event vision and goals
  • Learn about the initiatives of IFC and serve as an advocate for IFC in the community
  • Assist in the strategy, planning, and organization of Colorado Impact Day
  • Work with IFC staff to provide intros to potential sponsors, judges, and competition participants
  • Help IFC identify potential corporate, foundation and individual sponsors for Colorado Impact Day at a local or national level
  • Host a cultivation event that focuses on building relationships with the top sponsorship prospects or promotes general event awareness
  • Heavily promote Colorado Impact Day within your own network
  • Get or give a total of $10,000 in sponsorships to Colorado Impact Day OR recruit 15 competition participants for Colorado Impact Day

Qualifications 

Steering Committee Members should have:

  • A strong interest in the future of Colorado economy and philanthropy
  • Recognized business leader in Colorado
  • Capacity to give or get a personal and/or corporate leadership gift
  • Ability to open doors to potential sponsors and competition participants
  • Dedication to attend Steering Committee monthly meetings, as well as 1:1 meetings with IFC staff as needed to drive the Colorado Impact Day forward

Colorado Impact Day Steering Committee Members are asked to commit through the completion of the 2015 event.

  1. Demand – Action Plan (googledoc) – Julie Voyles, team lead – focus on identifying the Colorado social venture landscape (for profit and non-profit) and assessing the best way to bring them into Impact Day
  2. Intermediary – Action Plan (googledoc) – Ceyl Prinster, team lead – focus on identifying those who provide the professional services for both the Supply- and Demand-side
  3. Supply – Action Plan (googledoc) – Doug Johnson, team lead – identify the various types of impact capital suppliers in Colorado, assess the current level of impact investing awareness in each sector, and devise creative mechanisms to elevate impact investing awareness across the state. The goal is to create opportunities for education that level the playing field of knowledge of impact investing and generate interest in Colorado Impact Day
  4. Architecture – Action Plan (googledoc) – Jacqui / IFC, team lead – (1) deliver a set of recommendations related directly to event logistics, such as date selection, tracks, and structure of the day (2) consider the high-level strategies related to the event, including fundraising, marketing and any high level concerns that come out of the Steering Committee meetings or other working groups, (3) devise the process for social venture participation, including details related to proposals and selection prior to Impact Day
