California Investor Club

Activating Full Spectrum Capital for California

In partnership with TechSoup, and Full Spectrum Capital Partners, Impact Finance Center is hosting a three-part California Investor Club.

From Silicon Valley to San Diego, the state of California has a vibrant network of social enterprises and nonprofit organizations focused on serving local communities and solving the state’s most pressing social and environmental challenges. Impact Finance Center, in partnership with TechSoup, is working to build the infrastructure to get more investment capital flowing to support the impact sector in California. We have created the California Investor Club to act as a marketplace to directly connect investors with the projects they care about.

Nonprofit organizations need patient flexible capital to invest in building their capacity. It can be hard to find this type of capital from grant funding alone, which is often restricted for certain programs. When appropriately structured, investments into nonprofits can bring benefits to both the nonprofit organization as well as for funders and investors. Nonprofits with earned revenue streams can take on debt to invest in growth, paying back investors over time with a modest interest rate. For funders, the return of capital plus a small amount of interest has the potential to be more impactful than a grant because the money can be reinvested or granted out at the end of the loan term.

Join the California Investor Club to learn how you can invest in the businesses and organizations that are working to make a difference for Californians. In this presentation, impact investors will share their stories, we will dive deep into innovative investment models with TechSoup and other social ventures, and finish by hearing some quick pitches from other California-based organizations. You will have the opportunity to ask questions from leaders in the field, as well as gain access to live deals so that you can begin activating capital right away.

About Full Spectrum Capital Partners:

Through our partnership, Full Spectrum Labs, Impact Finance Center and Dev Labs Venture Fund collaborate to build ecosystems and marketplaces for innovation that lift up solutions and leaders emerging from communities that have been marginalized historically.

By building innovation clusters in communities and connecting them to communities of capital stewards with a commitment to social and ecological impact, we make it easy to come together and align growing financial value with our deepest shared values.

Objective: We will host quarterly meetings with the goal of growing the Club to 100+ investors (e.g., individuals, private foundations, community foundations, endowments, family offices, corporations, banks, and life insurance companies) by 2022.

Description: As we work to build the infrastructure for community members to be able to invest directly in the social ventures (nonprofits, startups, businesses, funds, cooperatives, hybrids, and more) they care about, Investor Clubs are a critical step forward. Building on the success of CO Impact Days and our growing network of Impact Investing Giving Circles (we piloted the first-ever Impact Investing Giving Circle in partnership with the Women’s Foundation of Colorado), Investor Clubs are the next step in achieving Impact Finance Center’s vision of a Main Street 2.0.

Impact Finance Center is working to catalyze unprecedented investment into Main Street by creating the infrastructure for a National Impact Investing Marketplace.

Direct investing marketplaces like our Investor Clubs are a critical part of that infrastructure.

Your support will help make it all possible!
