Noel Gurwick is an ecosystem scientist focused on action to address the climate crisis by guiding land use and land management. Currently serving as a technical advisor at the United States Agency for International Development, his work includes identifying and addressing threats to forested landscapes and opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the land. These include financial levers ranging from public subsidies to carbon markets, agreements about how to monitor land management and land use change, and guidance for conserving and restoring tropical wetlands. He supports IFC by engaging with potential partners to gather information and build relationships, reviewing proposals to refine new program ideas, and editing communications materials for strength and impact.
