Andrea E McGrath joined the Impact Finance Center in 2022 as an Adviser, working on developing a blueprint for community foundations to determine their impact investing strategy. She joins the Impact Finance Center because she is drawn to their work in and success with catalyzing more impact capital, particularly from more ‘traditional’ philanthropic sources (foundations, giving circles and individual donors). Andrea is a strategic and entrepreneurial leader with deep, cross-sector experience helping individuals and organizations, ranging from startups to the Fortune 500, to catalyze ideas into action. As founder of amplified impact, a strategic advisory firm, she has worked with trailblazers and pioneers in the fields of social entrepreneurship, philanthropy, academia, and impact investing over the past decade. Andrea is most proud of the work she has done with students and universities, including Harvard (HBS, HKS, iLab), Georgetown, Yale, UNH, and Boston College – leading strategy, and programs, conducting field research, designing classes and workshops, and serving as a mentor and adviser. Trained in competitive intelligence, with a blended background in finance and social impact, Andrea is a systems thinker who is passionate about translating insights from business, policy, and entrepreneurship to drive social change. She holds an MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School, an MBA from the University of Connecticut, and a BA from Boston College. As an ENTP who is skilled at “herding cats”, Andrea is most likely organizing a meetup on any given day among work colleagues, friends, or family somewhere in her beloved city of Boston.
